VULKA 22 Voyage to Rangitāhua (the Kermadec Arc)
Join us on Thursday 10th November (in person or over zoom) to hear all about the VULKA voyage in March this year led by Dr Martin Jutzeler. This voyage was the first conducted onboard RV Investigator post COVID.
Submarine calderas pose mulitple hazards to coastal communities, and the multiple active calderas in Rangitāhua/the Kermadec Arc offer excellent opportunities to study mechanisms of eruption and sedimentation. This trip investigated three submarine caldera volcanoes, Havre, Macauley and Healy, through piston coring, sesimic reflection, deep towed camera and bathymetric surveys.
It's going to be a jam-packed talk - don't miss out!
Drinks and nibbles in the CODES tearoom from 5.30pm, talk starting at 6pm.
